BW Offshore said in a statement this Thursday an explosion aboard a FPSO in Brazil killed five people while four workers are still missing.
The accident in the floating production storage and offloading vessel Cidade de Sao Mateus also injured ten workers. BW Offshore said production in the field was halted and the unit was shut down.
The vessel Cidade de Sao Mateus was operating on the Camarupim and Camarupim Norte fields approximately 120km offshore the State of Espirito Santo. The vessel is capable of producing up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day and storing 1.6 million barrels of oil, and was deployed by Petrobras in the Santos Basin in November 2014.
Petrobras has not made any public statement about the accident yet.
